Viral hepatitis C is a serious disease, without timely treatment leading to such dangerous complications as cirrhosis and liver cancer. Treatment with modern direct-acting medicines, for example, Sofosbuvir (Sovaldi), Ledipasvir Sofosbuvir (Harvoni), Velpatasvir Sofosbuvir (Epclusa) is carried out in a fairly successful manner, but it is expensive. But, in India, medicines are created for hepatitis using a similar active ingredient, but they sell those medicines at a much lower price.
Gilead signed agreements with India-based pharmaceutical manufacturers to make generics medicines for hepatitis C and distribution in various developing countries.
